I’m not great at being vegan or being fit, but I’m learning.  Chances are, if you’re reading this blog, you’re interested in learning too.  I hope that I can sift through a lot of what’s out there and tell you what works for me and my family.  I also hope that the accountability that this site offers will help me to become better and that feedback from you will too.

If you would like for me to review a product, recipe, or restaurant, please email Lynda at blogshafer@ymail.com.

If you would like for me to post as a guest on your site , please email at the same address or call me at 803-210-6836.

  1. How much would you say you and your family have enjoyed being vegan?

    • Some times more than others. When we’re cooking great recipes and having plenty of variety, they really enjoy it. When I’m pushing baked potatoes 3 times a week, not so much. It’s just this need for variety that has lead me to publish the new page “What’s for Dinner.” Look for great plans and ideas in January!

  3. Lynda! This is so cool because I have recently (within the last month) considered eating a more vegan-ish raw-ish diet, but have felt so overwhelmed. Perhaps it’s because I intend to go the raw route, which makes everything so much more complicated. 😉
I simply want to eat in a way to fuel my body, and stop pouring in so much sludge.

Have you visited the Good Life Cafe in West Columbia? The food that they prepare there made me realize that a raw vegan (vegan raw) diet can taste really good! And when I eat there I feel full, but not sluggish.

I’m so glad that I stumbled across your blog. 🙂

    • Great to hear from you! I haven’t eaten at Good Life, but it’s on my list. There’s a vegan place on N. Main–I can’t remember the name. It’s an adventure, but it’s not raw. It is super cool and African themed. We have moved toward vegan after reading Eight Weeks to Optimum Health by Dr. Andrew Weil. The next year I read The China Study and that really changed our outlook. Who knows? Given enough time, we may go raw too.

If you want company at Good Life, facebook me and maybe I can join you!

  4. It is interesting you are trying out Vegan diet. Vegetarian all my life, I have added eggs to my diet and left grains out for the most part. About once or twice a week – and mostly gluten free. I am working on a social experiment on Mindfulness in this year 2012. My first stop is exploring mindful eating. Take a peek.

    • I’d love to join you in your mindfulness quest. I think I have a similar priority but I have rather clumsily called it the pursuit of simple pleasure. When I read your comment I thought to myself, Oh yeh, that’s the word I was looking for!

Let me know how I can contribute, and I’d love to try!

  5. Lynda I just came from Eva’s blog and noticed that you wanted to guest somewhere. Eva is guesting for me in July and I am in need of a guest blogger for December. Yes, it is a long way off but it is the only month I have left. If you are interested please let me know. My guest posts are the first Saturday of every month and between my readers and their readers, both sites get a boost in visitors. I’m working on my guesting <—- I think I made that word up, schedule and thought of you when I visited Eva this morning.

    • I’d love to. I looked at your schedule and December looks booked now. (That’s what I get for being an inconsistent blogger!) If you could use me some other time, let me know!

      • For the life of me, no, it’s not that important… I cannot remember who I asked to guest in August so if you would like it. It is yours. If I remember, how bad could it be to have two wonderful guests in one month? Thank you. I will be all too happy to have you. Let me know and I will invite you to my beta site where you can compose your post any time you like. I just got an email about the April guest post and it will be phenomenal. Just sayin’

      • Yikes! That’s intimidating news about April. You probably better go ahead and give me that beta site so I can start working on something for August now. I may need several months to even approach awesome.

So, what do you think?
